Wire removals, set extensions, object replacements and more in this visual effects breakdown of Sarkaru Vaari Paata (2022) by Pixelloid Studios.
This below is a perfect bad example of good visual effects and bad on set decisions.
The problem here is that, the production unit while filming blocked the sunlight from hitting Mahesh Babu (resulting in a diffused and soft look on him) and lit him from camera left. But in the final shot it is supposed to be harsh sunlight hitting him and the shadow falling to the left (as it would have if they filmed it normally) but he’s being lit from the left which does not make sense in the final shot whatsoever. To the audience, just looking at the final shot it would’ve looked like he was shot somewhere else and composited into the shot. Which will eventually unfortunately lead the audience to believe the VFX are bad. When in fact they are not (they did their best with what they were given) it is the cinematography and on set vfx supervision that are bad.
Fun Fact: Pixelloid Studios from as early on as I can remember is the first VFX house that began regularly uploading their breakdowns of Telugu films on YouTube.
