Mayalu Mantralu Turns One!

Happy first anniversary to us! It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a whole year since we started this blog. It feels like just a month ago when we published our very first article, Hello Prapancham. We’ve grown, learned, and created so much during this time, and we’re incredibly grateful for your support and being a part of our community, even if it’s just the three or so of you. Here’s to many more years of success and collaboration! Thank you for being a part of this journey.

I started this website primarily because I wanted to publish my first article somewhere. In addition, I was inspired to create a platform that could inform all things related to Indian VFX while also providing educational value to our audience. While, naming it Mayalu Mantralu makes it a bit harder for people to even find such a website exists but I have plans to get more viewers over the course of the upcoming year.

Over the last year, I had the opportunity to interview Daniel French, the co-founder of Surpreeze VFX, who has worked on noteworthy projects like RRR (2022) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). However, looking back on the interview, I feel like there was room for improvement, and the responsibility for that falls on me. I recognize that I need more practice and will work on honing my interviewing skills to provide a better experience for our audience and guests in the future.

We’ve had so much coverage on RRR, to the point where some of you may have mistaken us for an RRR fan page. While it’s true that we’ve been focusing heavily on this project, that’s simply because it’s been the most prominent news in terms of VFX as of late. Rest assured that if there were other exciting announcements or breakdown reels being released, we would have covered those as well. Like we did with some that were released. The RRR coverage just overshadowed it all.

Going forward, we’re hoping to bring you more interviews, knowledge, and spotlight VFX talent. We’ll be releasing more articles soon, starting with one related to RRR (I know… sorry) (this time focusing on storytelling instead of VFX). We’ve mainly covered content from last year, but going forward, we’ll introduce a new section called “Retro VFX,” where we’ll feature VFX breakdowns from before 2020. We’re committed to providing comprehensive coverage of VFX and hope more of you will join us for the ride. Thank you!
